The Meaning of a Hummingbird Visit – Not so Coincidental!

Recently a reader commented: “Upon retirement this summer, I started walking my dog early in the mornings.  A hummingbird was perched atop the tip/top of a queen palm.  On my first and second days, I’d pass the tree, the bird started flying/hovering.  I felt as if the bird was greeting both of us.  I believe my dog was aware of the bird both times. Since then I’ve changed my route daily.  I haven’t seen the bird since.  But I will always remember our spiritual encounter.”

The Meaning of a Hummingbird Visit – Not so Coincidental!

Thank you for your contribution to the site, I do appreciate all the stories shared since it builds an even stronger belief in our subtle abilities and the existence of spirit.

You and I parallel in many ways. In my early stories, available here on the website, you can see my own connection with the hummingbirds. It is not my first encounter, but more of a renewal, as though I was being thanked for days past. Why was I not rewarded at the time I gave? I was, I had been given a sense of accomplishment, having rescued many hummingbirds from the frustration of windows that would not let them be free.

A Chance Encounter – Hummingbird Moments

I appreciate what you said about the repetition of similar experiences. No reflection on you, as I think you are a very aware person, but generally I think we are all a little dense, and need repetitions to get messages through our over-active brains. It was not just one visit but repetition that locked into believing.

That said, I think your encounters were clear, and the connection strong. You were open to seeing the hummingbird. You’d be surprised at how many people cannot see them, even when they are pointed out.

No worries on the disappearance of your hummingbird friend. My own, in the early days, disappeared, but many returned the following year. It may be a feeding issue. I now have year-rounders, now that they know that they are supported. Energy stays where it is accepted, yes?

Blessings, kindred spirit.

I had the occasion early this week to water the plants in the front of my home and heard the fluttering of a hummingbird’s wings before I even saw it. It perched on a small branch on a nearly-dead bush in a neighbors yard. He had a red throat and some red on the top of his head.

I slowly walked toward the bird getting about 5-6 ft in front of him and he began clicking his beak as if he was talking to me. I spoke very softly to him and kept telling him how beautiful he was!

He seemed to like the compliment as he’d then begin to flutter his wings in front of the bush hovering and then fly about 3 ft forward toward me and then 3 ft back and then land on the branch again. When he rested on the branch, he’d click his beak. Then he’d fly to a neighboring bush with flowers on the same property and then come right back to the same nearly-dead bush and sit on the branch and ‘click’.

This went on for approximately 20 minutes, hovering, clicking, perching. When he perched and I continued to speak to him, he’d look directly at me. After that time, he suddenly just flew away.

What a beautiful experience it was!

Message: Today I had a very special encounter with a beautiful, small hummingbird that flew up to me, eye-level and hovered beside me until I finally locked eyes. I was with my four-year old daughter who was very busy looking at flowers in a small community school garden when I felt what I can only explain as eyes on me. I am not sure if the fluttering of her wings or the gaze caused me to turn and look. When I looked over and barely an arm length away was this tiny bird hovering and gazing right at me. Almost waiting. It wasn’t startled when I looked over, “wow” I said out loud and in amazement. It was such a unique and special experience but I hardly understand it.

      Hi Joanne,
Yes, isn’t it wonderful to have a hummingbird encounter, so close and for a surreal time that seems like forever? There are so many little things embedded in our world that can awaken a person’s soul, if only they open their eyes to the experience. I have gone on walk and pointed out these wonders to many people, and some are just not ready or able to shift into that dimension of the soul. It’s all good, there are many frequencies on a piano keyboard, and no one note is better than another. But you bring those keys together in harmony and … wow.
      Thanks for sharing your story!!
