Signs of an Eagle – Greater Independence
At this time of the year we bring focus to our land and our independence. The sign of an eagle is symbolic of honor and upholding the beliefs that make a country great. How do we build upon that foundation, and maintain a level of support around us? By sharing stories of honor, bridging our way toward greater independence.
It was Friday afternoon, and for the last hour I slowly creeped along in the overwhelming traffic. Progress was slow, and each person on this same highway shared the dilemma but that was all they shared. Everyone was in it for themselves, focused on their own agenda. We moved in the same direction, but woefully independent from one another. Welcome to the world, hurry up and wait. Then above the sea of vehicles there appeared a most welcome sight, an eagle in flight.
The eagle moved so effortlessly, making use of the invisible currents in the air. It was almost a rocking motion, wings tipping in one direction then gliding in an arc toward the other direction. I felt my spirit lifting within me, as if I was drawn upward to follow the swaying movement of the eagle, and I gave no resistance. Suddenly my place there in the stalled traffic meant little to me. I had been rescued yet again by a winged spirit, freed from the bounds of my own thoughts.
The Eagle as a Symbol
The eagle became the symbol of freedom in the U.S. over 200 years ago. What precisely does that mean, to know our freedom, to have a sense of independence? We are a union, a nation, but within that union how much do we retain our individuality?
The eagle turned so gracefully with hardly any wing movement, easing into a pattern that seemed almost playful. I could no longer share the dampening feeling of the delayed traffic, and glided my thoughts into a place where I felt so much more of my own freedom. The eagle glided through a sea of space, drifting with great symbiotic alliance within an invisible space we call air. My awareness turned to my spirit self, and recognized that I too was supported by an invisible force that made my ability to be present almost effortless.
Our independence is formed first within our own thoughts and beliefs, and then it is expressed in our actions. Our freedom is found in so many dimension. The body may be locked within the bounds of time and space, but our spirit is timeless and knows no bounds. How much we live within the two is our choice. We can live in a world focused only on days, places, and things, or we can live in a world that combines the seen and the unseen. We can soar like the eagle as we bring the purpose and the value of our spirit-presence into this day in / day out world. The sign of an eagle was a reminder to me to Walk With Wings.
No matter where we go or what we do we can bring the value of our highest spiritual presence into every moment. To live within our own light yet be a part of everything is an amazing alliance. It is a gift that can be expressed in a way that transcends our differences and lifts us into a far greater place that contains both connectivity and independence. This level of independence comes with the greatest undying support, and builds an unshakable strength within.
Wishing everyone a most excellent day of independence. Thank you for joining us here today, and reading Signs of an Eagle – Greater Independence.
